From Giovanna to you…..

Back home in Italy its traditional to have a fresh full garden outside your kitchen window just for basic cooking...so naturally when Richard and I moved to America together, in roughly 1968, we turned every inch of dirt we had into a garden. Richard and I always had a passion and love for gardening and plants.

We started simple by making small raised bed plots. We dug trenches and filled them with sawdust so we could plant a handful of baby trees, shrubs, strawberries, and pansies. This was when I started to learn how to put planters together.

I started arranging and experimenting with strawberries in planters with my floral design background, and this gave birth to our first series of container gardens.

Like a Italian market, we started selling our containers right on the street of Galveston, and SOLD OUT in less than three weeks. We then quickly built our first private greenhouse in the late 70's. In the early 80's we custom built a 20x40, two-by-four wooden greenhouse that was open to the public. This was the first green house that started the evolution of Galveston Gardens today.

Since then, we have been well known for our hanging baskets, planters, our large selection of annuals, and perennials, and also our hardy veggies and house plants.

We have a unique and different variety of planters, and displays, along with what we like to call, gardens that are ready to go. We love the community of Bend and their support for our family business over the years, and we are continuing to evolve and transform for the years to come.
